The Puma Cross Country teams swept the ACCAC Cross Country Championship meet on Sept. 27, winning both the women's and men's conference team championship titles. This was the first time the Pumas have won both titles in the same season since 2004.

The Pumas dominated the women's race by placing all five of their scoring runners in the top six overall and scoring 16 points to runner-up Mesa's 39 (low score wins). Keira Damron won the individual title in a time of 18:56.  She was followed by teammates Olivia Coulston, second in 19:12; Laynee Hollech, third in 19:25; Mackenzie Bethancourt, fourth in 19:43; Rachael Bethancourt, sixth in 19:46; Catie Case, 13th in 21:09; McKenna Martin, 14th in 21:56; Shantelle Berrien, 17th in 22:15; Brooke Redman, 27th in 24:07; and Catalina Quintero, 31st in 25:48. "I'm really proud of our women," said coach David Barney, "They wanted to win the conference title, and they did it with a 'take no prisoners' attitude!"

The men's team followed the women's lead and came away with their first conference championship since 2015.  The Pumas scored 26 points to narrowly edge cross-town rival Mesa's 29 points. Jackson Bland led the Pumas for the second week in a row and garnered the second individual championship title of the day for the Pumas. Bland covered the 8000m course in a time of 26:16 and was followed by Jaxon Zimmerman, second in 26:55; Nick Hiser, fifth in 27:25; Jacob Soukup, eighth in 27:42; Anthony Padilla, tenth in 27:50; Joel Bejarano, 16th in 29:56; and Ryan Ulmer, 17th in 29:57. "Our guys got it done today," commented Barney, "It was a really hot day, and Mesa was tough, but our guys hung in there and did what they needed to do."

The Pumas will compete again on October 19 at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational in West Salem, WI.
