Men's Soccer displayed remarkable resilience, earning a dramatic 1-1 draw against Glendale Community College on Tuesday. The Pumas' never-give-up attitude was on full display as Brayan Duran scored the equalizer with just one second left on the clock.
With only 15 seconds remaining, Ben Rouse delivered a crucial throw-in into the center of the box. Duran put the ball past the diving GCC goalkeeper in a scrum of players to level the score 1-1. The home crowd erupted, celebrating the Pumas' last-second goal.
The Gauchos took the lead early in the match, putting pressure on the Pumas throughout the game. However, the Pumas's defense, led by standout performances, kept them within striking distance. With two minutes left in regulation, Preston Pearson made a game-saving stop on the goal line, preventing the Gauchos from doubling their lead and giving the Pumas the chance they needed to equalize.
Head coach Christian DeVries praised the team's effort stating, "This was a hard-fought game. The boys showed incredible character and fight, especially in those final minutes. I'm proud of how they never gave up."
The Pumas travel to Scottsale on Saturday, October 19. Kick-off is set for 5:30pm.
