Late Score Costs the Pumas Against South Mountain

The Pumas lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat to SMCC on Tuesday. The game was tied at one with SMCC batting in the top of the fifth when the Cougars laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run

The pitching was strong on both sides. SMCC pitchers struck out four, while the Pumas sat seven.

Colton McIntosh toed the rubber for the Pumas. The right-hander surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out seven.

Jace Caito-DeRosier led the Pumas with two hits in three at bats. The Pumas were sure-handed and did not commit a single error. Caito-DeRosier made the most plays with seven.

Game 2: SMCC 21, PVCC 1 (7) 

Pumas Lose Lead Early in Defeat

The Pumas fell behind early and could not come back in a 21-1 loss to SMCC on Tuesday. They struggled to contain the high-powered offense of SMCC, giving up 21 runs. 

In the first inning, SMCC got their offense started with a three-run homerun. SMCC scored six runs in the second inning.

David Enriquez started the game for the Pumas. The pitcher surrendered 11 runs on eight hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one. 

Derek Wood went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Pumas in hits.
