The Paradise Valley track and field team continued its strong early season performances this past Saturday at the Mesa Indoor Invitational. The Pumas came home with six first-place performances, two additional NJCAA Indoor National Championship qualifiers, and one school record.

The highlight of the meet was the Pumas' dominance in the men's 400-meter dash.  The Puma sprinters captured the first four places in the event with Joel Goulbourne leading the way in a time of 48.24 seconds. Goulbourne's time was an All-time 400-meter record for Paradise Valley, a personal best, a national qualifier and ranks him sixth nationally among junior college athletes. Following Goulbourne were teammates Corde Long, 2nd place in 48.70 (#3 All-time Paradise Valley best; national qualifier; ranked 13th nationally), Tyler Carreon, 3rd in 49.51 (#5 All-time Paradise Valley best), and Miles Fears, 4th place (in a personal best of 50.68).

Additional event winners included Corde Long with wins in the 60 meter hurdles (8.53) and 200 meter dash (21.75), freshman Jasmine Alyasiri in the women's 800 meters (2:32.52), Brycen Brown in the men's 1000 meter run (2:38.22), Ellissa Lucas in the women's 1000 meter run (3:11.48; ranking her 9th nationally), and William Ryan-Johnson in the men's mile run (4:26.02; ranking him 15th nationally).  The Pumas now have eight performances ranked in the top-15 nationally and 11 in the top-20.

The PV track and field team will return to action on March 6th at the Mesa Outdoor Track and Field Invitational.
