The Puma Tennis team is not finished with their 2021 season just yet. On Wednesday the Pumas placed second in the Region Tournament and also qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament in May. After a 2020 season that was cut short due to COVID, advancing in the post season is an exciting change of events for the Pumas.
Region tournament match play began on Tuesday at Paseo Racquet Club in Glendale. All Pumas advanced to the finals on Wednesday in singles: Jessica Lopez, Noelani Lui, Krystal Quintero, JaNay Reeves and Savannah Sousa. Advancing to the finals Wednesday in doubles were: Lui/Quintero and Reeves/Sousa
Noelani Lui was the lone Puma victory in the finals. Lui captured the flight one championship, and was named the 2021 Region I Champion, in a hard fought battle against EAC.
The squad will not have to travel far to play in the national tournament this year as the May 1-5 affair is being hosted in Mesa.
