WOMEN’S SOCCER DEFEATS GATEWAY TO OPEN SEASON

After two game cancellations, the Women's Soccer team opened up the 2022 season on Friday, August 26 against GateWay Community College.

The Pumas started the game strong with 10 shots on goal, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Finally, in the 36th minute of the game, Jayla Patrick was able to capitalize on the 11th shot and put the Pumas up 1-0.

In the second half of the game, the Geckos turned on the heat, but Puma goalie Emily Richards was able to withstand the barrage of shots and keep the Geckos off of the board. After 90 minutes, the Pumas came away with their first win of the season, defeating GWCC 1-0. The Pumas had 18 shots to GWCC's 20 and were led by Harlee Kuntz with six shots. Richards had eight saves, five of which came in the second half of the game.

The Pumas are back in action on Friday, September 2 when they take on Mesa Community College at 8:00pm at MCC.
