WOMEN'S SOCCER OPENS UP CONFERENCE PLAY

WOMEN'S SOCCER OPENS UP CONFERENCE PLAY
The Puma Women's Soccer team returned home for the first time in almost two years on Saturday, September 25, and picked up their first conference win of the 2021 season. Maritiza Soto opened up the scoring for PVCC when she tucked away a rebounded shot from Lluvia Ramirez in the 17th minute. The Geckos of Gateway traded shots back and forth with Pumas for the next 45 minutes until they tied the game in the 68th minute. After the second water break, the Pumas made an adjustment up top that paid off.  Ramirez recorded her second assist when she made a great pass to Angelica Yescas, who shot the ball past the keeper for the game-winner.  Isabelle Herrera started in her first collegiate game in goal, picking up the win.

The Pumas return to action on Thursday, September 30, when they take on the Yavapai Roughriders. This is the first meeting ever between the Roughriders and the Pumas as it is the first year for Yavapia to sponsor women's soccer. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00pm at Paradise Valley.
