PERSONAL BEST ROUNDS FOR PUMAS, CROWDER FINISHED IN TOP TEN

PERSONAL BEST ROUNDS FOR PUMAS, CROWDER FINISHED IN TOP TEN

The Pumas played in the Coyotes Invite hosted by Chandler-Gilbert Community College at Las Colinas Golf Course in Queen Creeklast weekend.  South Mountain Community College edged out Mesa Community College for the team win.

The Pumas had two of their women compete as individuals.  Both Taylor Crowder and Janell Meza shot their personal best college tournament rounds.  Crowder shot a 78 on day one and Meza shot 123 for her personal best.

With her impressive first round, Crowder propelled herself place in the top ten of the event.

“Taylor was right in the mix.  There is no doubt in my mind that Taylor should be in the top 10 or top 5 every tournament.  I have full confidence in her game.  She displayed that confidence.  Taylor was very decisive on her shots. She didn’t second guess herself.  She decided quickly and concisely, committed and executed.  That level of maturity in her game is important as she continues to score well.  I think she gained lots of confidence in herself this week.  Her ball striking his solid, but I wanted her to be herself.  Let her true Taylor come out.  Knowing yourself in golf is important, and she is finding her identity in her game,” Coach Palmer stated.

Coach Palmer continued, “As for Janell, she impresses me every tournament.  For her introduction to golf to be playing in college competitions, she shows no signs of nervousness or fear.  Of course I know she is, but not once has she shown that.  She continues to learn and grow.”

The next tournament will be March 29-30 at Aguila Golf Course hosted by South Mountain Community College.
