TAYLOR CROWDER IN 5TH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF PUMA INVITATIONAL

TAYLOR CROWDER IN 5TH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF PUMA INVITATIONAL

Puma Women's Golf hosted the Puma Invitational (March 6-7) at Cave Creek Golf Course in Phoenix, AZ.  The course proved to be a tough challenge for the student-athletes.  The course measured 6200 yards and the greens were very difficult.

Puma Taylor Crowder shot an impressive 79 the first day and is in 5th place heading into day two.  She is two shots behind the leaders who are tied at 77 from Mesa, South Mountain, and Pima.

Coach Palmer stated, "I was so happy to see Taylor's score.  She worked hard and prepared for the tournament.  She is due to go low.  We can all see it. If anyone sees her hit the ball, it is clear that she has game.  Cave Creek is one of the toughest courses the teams will play, and it showed. But Taylor definitely knows how to play well on tough courses."

Janell Meza competed in her second college tournament and showed lots of progress in her game.  Coach Palmer said, "Janell is a competitor.  She wants to win and succeed, but she knows it won't happen overnight.  She shows lots of patience but is working hard to accelerate her learning."

Both Pumas will be teeing up Tuesday for the second round.  The forecast is predicted for another perfect day for golf.
