WOMEN'S GOLF OPENS 2023 SEASON

WOMEN'S GOLF OPENS 2023 SEASON
The Pumas opened the new year by traveling to Tucson for the Pima Community College tournament held at Del Urich January 28 & 29. This spring Coach Palmer added two new golfers to join Taylor Crowder.  She and new golfer Janelle Meza competed as individuals for PVCC.

Crowder shot 92-82 for the two days. She started off rough, but came back the next day and improved by 10 strokes.  Coach Palmer said, "Taylor hits the ball really well and she is due to shoot in the 70s consistently.  A few putts that go in, and minus a few errors, she is right there to go low.  Taylor is a big hitter.  She drove one of the par 4s and it played 280 uphill.  Once she dials in her short game more, she will be winning some tournaments soon."

Meza is brand new to golf.  Coach Palmer stated, "I have only worked with Janelle one time on the range, and one time on putting right before this tournament.  But she was a quick learner and was hitting the ball very well, so I brought her to the tournament.  It's a huge learning curve but she was brave enough to compete her first college round successfully.  She had her first par on a par 3 over water. She knocked it 10 feet from the pin and two-putted for par."

Coach Palmer and the squad are excited to grow the women's team.

The Puma women will be competing February 14-15 at Dobson Ranch in the Mesa Community College tournament.
