PUMAS SPLIT WITH GLENDALE

Puma Softball (3-19) split their two game series against Glendale (5-19) on Tuesday. 
 
Game 1: PVCC 4, GCC 6
The Pumas fell in game one of the double header against GCC 6-4. 
 
The Gauchos got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning when a double brought in one run. 
 
In the top of the second inning, the Pumas captured a 4-1 lead after Estevannie Rojas homered to left field, Allisyn Crabtree homered to left field, Alexis Smith doubled, and Amber Lopez doubled, each scoring one run. 
 
The lead for the Pumas was short lived as the Gauchos took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the second and were unable to regain the lead. 
 
Araeya Cosay started the game for the Pumas. The righty went five innings, allowing six runs (one earned) one six hits, striking out three and walking five. 
 
Game 2: PVCC 11, GCC 4
The Pumas got a big win in game two of the double header as they defeated GCC 11-4. 
 
The Pumas opened the scoring in the top of the first inning thanks to a single by Allisyn Crabtree, scoring one run. The Pumas added on runs in the top of the second inning after Amber Lopez singled, Crabtree hit a sacrifice fly, and Araeya Cosay doubled, each scoring one run. 
 
Crabtree earned the win for the Pumas. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking five .Holly Myers appeared in relief for the Pumas. 
 
The Pumas collected 13 hits in the game. Crabtree provided pop in the middle of the lineup for the Pumas with three runs batted in. The pitchers went 2-3 on the day. Emily Quigg set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Pumas with three hits in five at bats. Cosay and Lopez each collected multiple hits for the Pumas. 
 
Next up the Pumas travel to Mesa Community College on Thursday, April 11. First pitch is at 12pm.
