SOFTBALL FIGHTS HARD AGAINST PHOENIX

Puma Softball (2-16) traveled to Phoenix College on Saturday where they dropped both games to the Bears.

Game 1: PVCC 0, PC 5

The Pumas struggled in game one the double header offensively, falling to PC 5-0. The Pumas were only able to manage two hits in the game, one each by Emily Quigg and Allisyn Crabtree.

Araeya Cosay took the loss for the Pumas. The right-handed pitcher went six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits. Cosay struck out four batters and walked one.

Game 2: PVCC 4, PC 8

Game two of the double header was better offensively for the Pumas, as they fell to the Bear 8-4.

PC got on the board first in the bottom of the first with a home run. The Pumas tied the game in the top of the second inning thanks to a walk by Makayla Price and a single by Amber Lopez.

The Bears added one run each of the next three innings to take a 5-2 lead. The Pumas were never able to catch up.

Angelina Mello started the game for the Pumas. The right-hander gave up three hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings. Mello struck out two batters and walked three.

Allisyn Crabtree and Lopez each collected two hits for the Pumas. Price, Crabtree, Lopez, and Rhaylyn Tarango each drove in one run. The Pumas had patience at the plate, piling up four walks and ran the bases well, accumulating three stolen bases.

The Pumas travel to South Mountain on Thursday, first pitch is at 12:00pm.
