PUMA SOFTBALL OFF TO SLOW START
Puma Softball (2-14) is off to a slow start to the 2024 season. The Pumas two wins on the season came against Gateway Community College on March 12. 
 
Game 1: PVCC 13, GWCC 8
Abby Menor drove in four runs on three hits to lead Puma Softball to their first win of the season against GateWay Community College.
 
The Pumas jumped out to an early lead in the first inning after Emily Quigg doubled, scoring one run, Estevannie Rojas singled, scoring one run, Amber Lopez doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Menor hit a grand slam to left field. 
 
The Pumas added to their lead in the top of the second inning after Araeya Cosay doubled and Siennah Serrano grounded out, each scoring one run.The Pumas added two more runs in the third inning after Rojas doubled and another run in the fourth inning after Lopez hit a solo home run. 
 
Cosay earned the win for the Pumas, allowing one hit and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Holly Myers started the game for the Pumas. The right-hander surrendered six hits and eight runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. 
 
Game 2: PVCC 12, GWCC 8
In the second game of the double header, Estevannie Rojas collected three hits in five at bats to lead the Pumas in a victory over the GateWay Geckos. 
 
The Pumas got on the board in the first inning when Rojas hit a home run to center field after a six-pitch at-bat. The Pumas added on four more runs in the third inning. Amber Lopez hit a solo home run to right field, an error scored one run, and Sareenah Castillo singled, scoring two runs. 
 
Four more Puma runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend their lead to 12-5. Alexis Smith hit a solo home run to center field, Abby Menor grounded out, scoring one run, Rojas doubled, scoring one run, and Allisyn Crabtree hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. 
 
Araeya Cosay earned the win for the Pumas. The right-hander surrendered nine hits and eight runs (six earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking three. Holly Myers tossed one inning of scoreloss ball for the Pumas in relief. Myers gave up zero hits, with one strike out. 

The Pumas travel to Phoenix College on Saturday, March 30. First pitch is at 12pm.
