Game 1: GWCC 1, PVCC 4

Pumas Take the Win Over GWCC

The Pumas defeated GWCC 4-1 in game one of the double header on Saturday.

In the first inning, GWCC got their offense started when an error scored one run for the Geckos.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Pumas tied things up at one when Emily Viramontes singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

PV pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Maegan Viramontes singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Jordyn Cromer led things off on the rubber for the Pumas. Cromer lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out nine.

The Pumas collected 11 hits on the day. Emily White, Thalia Higuera, and Emily Viramontes each managed two hits to head the Pumas.

 

Game 2: GWCC 7, PVCC 9

E. Viramontes Strong at the Plate as Pumas Defeat Geckos 

Four hits from Emily Viramontes paved the way to victory for the Pumas over GWCC 9-7 on Saturday. Viramontes singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

Bats blistered as the Pumas collected 12 hits and the Geckos tallied 11 in the high-scoring game.

PV took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Valeria Rodriguez doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Maegan Ford tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, and Viramontes singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Jazlyn Romero got the start for the Pumas. The pitcher went six innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking one.

The Pumas smacked one home run on the day when Ford put one out in the first inning.

The Pumas tallied 12 hits on the day. Viramontes and Ford both managed multiple hits for PV. Viramontes led the Pumas with four hits in four at bats.
