Pumas Can't Catch Up to Glendale

The Pumas watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 13-2 loss to GCC on Saturday. The Gauchos took the lead on a home run in the first inning.

The Pumas struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing GCC, giving up 13 runs.

Jazlyn Romero was on the rubber for the Pumas. The pitcher went three innings, allowing 13 runs on 10 hits and striking out one. Jordyn Cromer threw one inning in relief.

Maegan Viramontes, Emily Viramontes, and Maegan Ford each collected one hit in the loss. 


Game 2: GCC 15, PVCC 14

Pumas Fall to Glendale After Sixth Inning Score

The Pumas lost the lead late in a 15-14 defeat to GCC on Saturday. The Gauchos were down 14-13 in the bottom of the sixth inning when a single put two runs on the board.

Despite the loss, the Pumas saw the ball well, racking up 16 hits in the game.  Maegan Ford collected four hits in the defeat. Ford singled in the second, singled in the third, homered in the fourth, and doubled in the sixth.

The Pumas captured the lead in the second inning when Peyton Krause's sac fly scored one run for the Pumas.

The Pumas tallied five runs in the third inning. The big inning was driven by singles by Ford and Krause and a double by Leticia Lopez.

Jordyn Cromer was in the pitcher's circle for the Pumas. The righthander allowed one hit and three runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one. Jazlyn Romero threw four and two-thirds innings in relief.

Ford, Krause, Valeria Rodriguez, Emily Viramontes, Emily White, and Lopez each managed multiple hits for the Pumas and Ford led the team with four hits in four at bats.
