Game 1: CGCC 17, PVCC 7 (5)

Pumas Lose Lead Early in Defeat

The Pumas fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 17-7 loss to CGCC on Tuesday.  The Coyotes put up seven runs in the first inning on a home run and two doubles.  

Despite the loss, the Pumas did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, the Coyotes had 13 hits on the way to victory.

The Pumas got on the board first in the top of the first when Jazlyn Romero doubled, scoring one run. The Pumas then notched five runs in the third inning. Peyton Krause, Emily White, Maegan Viramontes, and Emily Viramontes all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Romero was in the circle for the Pumas. The righthander allowed 13 hits and 17 runs over four innings, striking out one.

Romero went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Pumas in hits.

 

Game 2: CGCC 10, PVCC 2 (6)

Pumas Fall to Chandler-Gilbert After Fourth Inning Score

The Pumas lost the lead late in a 10-2 defeat to CGCC in game two of the day. The game was tied at two with the Coyotes batting in the bottom of the fourth when they tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

The Pumas struggled to contain the high-powered offense of CGCC, giving up 10 runs.

In the first inning, the Pumas got their offense started when Jazlyn Romero singled, scoring one run

Jordyn Cromer toed the rubber for the Pumas. The pitcher allowed 16 hits and 10 runs over five and a third innings, striking out four.

Despite the loss, the Pumas saw the ball well, racking up seven hits in the game.  Valeria Rodriguez and Romero each had two hits to lead the Pumas.
