A Four RBI Day for Maegan Viramontes Leads Pumas Past Geckos

The Pumas defeated Gateway CC 13-4 on Saturday thanks in part to Maegan Viramontes, who drove in four runs. Viramontes drove in runs on a double in the second and a double in the fourth.

The Pumas earned the victory despite allowing Gateway to score three runs in the first inning. 

PV got things started in the first inning when Emily Viramontes hit a sac fly, scoring one run.

In the top of the second inning, the Pumas tied things up at three. M. Viramontes drove in two when she doubled.

The Pumas pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning when Valeria Rodriguez singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

PV scored six runs in the fourth inning. Maegan Ford, M. Viramontes, and E. Viramontes each drove in runs during the inning.

Jordyn Cromer led things off in the pitcher's circle for PV. The righty went five innings, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.

The Pumas hit one home run on the day. Ford had a dinger in the fourth inning.

The Pumas tallied 17 hits in the victory. M. Viramontes, Jazlyn Romero, Peyton Krause, Cromer, Rodriguez, and Ford all collected multiple hits for the Pumas. Romero and M. Viramontes each collected three hits to lead the squad.

Game 2: GWCC 6, PVCC 9

Bats were blistered as the Pumas defeated the Geckos 10-6 in game two of the day's sweep.

PV fired up the offense in the second inning when Leticia Lopez singled, scoring one run. 

The Pumas tallied four runs in the sixth inning. The offense in the inning was led by Emily Viramontes, Jazlyn Romero, Jordyn Cromer, and Valeria Rodriguez, who each had RBIs.

Romero toed the rubber for the Pumas. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and six runs while striking out three.

The Pumas totaled 13 hits in the game.  Thalia Higuera, E. Viramontes, Maegan Viramontes, Lopez, and Romero racked up two hits each.
