MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY WINS NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Puma Men's Cross Country won the 2022 NJCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship on November 12 in Tallahassee, FL. This is the Pumas' fourth overall NJCAA National Championship (2004, 2008, 2011), and their first Division II Championship.

All seven runners for the Pumas finished in the top 40, helping them secure the victory. Sophomore Gilbert Olivas was the top finisher for the Pumas, finishing 4th with a time of 25:43.6. Freshman Jonathan Barney finished 9th (26:23.4), Sophomore Pierce Vittone was 10th (26.28.1), Freshman Nathan Pestka was 11th (26:28.5), Freshman Chaz Miller was 36th (27:1901), Freshman Jason Lundgren was 38th (27:28.6) and Freshman Oscar Gonzales finished 40th (27:34.9). Olivas, Barney, Vilttone, and Pestka all earned NJCAA All-American honors with their finishes.

The Pumas racked up a meet low 68 points, beating the second place team Heartland CC by 20 team points.

Head Coach David Barney was named Coach of the Meet for the 6th time in his tenure with the Pumas.
