Puma Men's Tennis made the best of a tough 2023 season making their mark late in the game.  Finishing the regular season 3-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play, the Pumas headed into postseason competition fighting for a chance at redemption.  Their efforts on the court led to three accomplishments the team is celebrating.

 

On April 11 & 12 the Pumas competed in the Region 1 Tennis Tournament held at Paseo Racquet Center in Glendale.  The Pumas came away with a second place finish in the tournament.  Mesa CC came out on top.

 

Perhaps the highlight of the region tournament, sophomore Sam Miyata was chosen by conference coaches as the 2022-23 ACCAC Player of the Year.  Miyata was 3-2 in regular season singles play, and is currently ranked 34th in the country in singles by ITA.  

 

The second place finish at the region tournament qualified the Pumas for the NJCAA DI Men's Tennis National Championship.  It also landed the Pumas on the Top 25 ITA team ranking list, where they are ranked 20.  

 

Next up, the Pumas will travel to McKinney, TX May15-19 to compete against the best NJCAA men's tennis teams from around the country.
