PUMAS WIN THREE IN A ROW

After an overtime win against Scottsdale, the Pumas added wins against GateWay and South Mountain to bring their season record to 6-2.

Saturday, September 17 – GWCC 1, PVCC 4

The Pumas defeated GateWay for the second time this season, this time in conference play.

Matthew Garcia got the Pumas on the board first when he scored in the 26th minute of the game (Mark Dobos). Jonathan Granados (Phoenix Hall) added a goal in the 26th minute to put the Pumas up 2-0. The Geckos got their lone goal of the game in the 45th minute of the game to close out the first half.

The Pumas put more on the board in the second half when Dobos scored in the 54th minute (Kamala Grama) to extend the Pumas lead to 3-1. Manuel Zambrano added on an insurance goal in the 80th minute on a penalty kick.

Dobos led the Pumas with two shots on goal and Jesus Morales had two saves on the day.

Tuesday, September 20 – SMCC 2, PVCC 4

The Pumas took on South Mountain for the second time this season, this time in conference play.

The Pumas got off to an early lead when Mark Dobos scored in the  1st minute of the game (Nicklaus McCaffrey). The Cougars tied the game at one-all in the 12th minute of the game, which is where the game stayed for the remainder of the first half.

The Cougars took the lead in the 50th minute of the game, going up 2-1. Jonathan Granados tied the game at two-all in the 54th minute (Jimmy Quintero). Granados scored his second goal of the game to give the Pumas the lead in the 59th minute. Manuel Zambrano extended the Pumas lead in the 89th minute to secure the 4-2 victory for the Pumas.

The Pumas next take on Phoenix College on Saturday, September 24 at 7:00pm at Phoenix College.
