PUMA BASEBALL GETS TWO BIG WINS AGAINST GATEWAY

Puma Baseball (22-22) swept GateWay in their two game series on Tuesday and Wednesday, keeping them within reach of a playoff spot. 
 
Tuesday, April 9: PVCC 7, GWCC 5
Logan Yule had a huge game for the Pumas as they defeated GateWay at home on Tuesday. Yule went 3-3 on the day with a triple and two singles to lead the Pumas to victory. 
 
The Pumas jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the fourth when Yule tripled, scoring one run, Alex Sanchez singled, scoring one run, and Jose Mendoza tripled, scoring two runs. 
 
Riley Roskopf earned the win for the Pumas. The lefty starting pitcher allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. Jayden Rowley, Luis Ozuna, and Quinn Lorgeree each came on in relief for the Pumas and shut down the Geckos. 
 
 The Pumas tallied 11 hits in the game. Mandoza, Sanchez and Isaac McNair Seigler each drove in two runs for the Pumas. 
 
Wednesday, April 10: PVCC 8, GWCC 1
Logan Yule had another big game for the Pumas in the second game of the series on Wednesday. Yule drove in four runs on two hits to help the Pumas defeat the Geckos 8-1. 
 
The Pumas jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when Jake Alwine drew a walk with the bases loaded, scoring one run, and Yule singled to clear the bases, scoring three runs. 
 
Brody Livingston earned the win for the Pumas. The lefty surrendered two hitz and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Cody Albright started the game for the Pumas. The righty gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Cole Dickson also came on in relief, tossing one-third innings of scoreless ball. The righty surrendered zore hits, struck out one, and walked one. 
 
The Pumas amassed 12 hits in the game. Alex Sanchez went 3-4 at the plate to lead the Pumas in hits. Isaac McNair-Seigler and Erick Dessens each collected multiple hits for the Pumas. 
 
The Pumas travel to Scottsdale on Friday to take on the Artichokes. First pitch is at 3:00pm.
