PUMA BASEBALL SPLITS WITH EASTERN

Puma Baseball (19-21) got a big win in game two of the double header against Eastern Arizona on Wednesday. The Pumas split their two-game series with the Gila Monsters.

Game 1: PVCC 2, EAC 10 (7)

The Pumas couldn't keep up with EAC and fell 10-2 in game one of their double header.

EAC got on the board first, taking a 6-0 lead within the first four innings of the game before the Pumas were able to get on the board.

Riley Roskopf stepped on the mound first for the Pumas. Roskopf allowed six hits and six runs (three earned) over two and two third innings, striking out two and walking one.

Alex Sanchez led the Pumas offensively, going 3-3 at the plate. Jake Alwine brought one run in and Drew Kaatz had two of the three stolen bases for the Pumas.

Game 2: PVCC 5, EAC 3

The Pumas were victorious over the Gila Monsters in game two of the double header.

After EAC got on the board first in the top of the second inning, the Pumas captured the 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Jonny Garber singled, Andrew Armas walked, and Drew Kaatz hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Alex Sanchez's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third brought in one more run for the Pumas.

Quinn Lorgeree earned the win for the Pumas. The reliever gave up three hits and zero runs over fiving innings, striking out one and walking one. Cole Dickson started the game for the Pumas. The righty allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking three.

Despite the five runs, the Pumas only had two hits on the game, one by Sanchez and the other by Cooper Holtorf. The Pumas ran wild on the base paths, amassing three stolen bases for the game. The Pumas turned two double plays and did not commit a single error in the field.

The Pumas travel to Mesa on Friday, first pitch is at 3:00pm.
