PUMA BASEBALL SWEEPS YAVAPAI
After a tough couple of weeks for Puma Baseball (18-14), where they went 2-12, the Pumas came up with two big wins against Yavapai College in Prescott on March 21.
 
Game 1: PVCC 5, YC 3
The Pumas defeated Yavapai College in game one of the double header after taking the lead late in the game. With the game tied at three in the top of the fifth inning, Jackson Babione singled, scoring two runs. 
 
Erick Dessens collected four hits in four at bats in the win with three singles and a double. 
 
The Pumas got on the board in the first inning after Dessens singled, scoring one run. An error in the fourth game gave the Pumas a 3-2 lead. Babiones single in the fifth was all that the Pumas needed to secure the victory. 
 
Cayden Collins earned the win for the Pumas. The righty gave up eight hits and three runs (two earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Joe Hanning collected the save for the Pumas and Luis Ozuna appeared in relief. 
 
Game 2: PVCC 13, YC 3
The Pumas came out swinging in the second game of the double header to defeat the Roughriders 13-3. 
 
The Pumas got on board in the first inning after Josh Chairez doubled, scoring one run. After Yavapai took a 2-1 lead in the second inning, Jackson Babione doubled in top of the fifth to give the Pumas a 4-2 lead.
 
The Pumas added five runs in the top of the ninth on only two hits. Jack Varney drew a bases loaded walk, scoring one run, Andrew Armas was struck by a pitch bringing in a run, Jake Alwin singled, scoring one run, and Jackson Babione singled, scoring two runs. 
 
Ian Koosman earned the win for the Pumas. Koosman surrendered 10 hits and three runs (two earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two. Quinn Lorgeree collected the save. 
 
The Pumas piled up 12 hits in the game. Babione drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Pumas with five runs batted in, going 3-6 in the game. Alwine, Chairez, and McNair-Seigler each had two hits for the Pumas. Alwine stole two bases for the Pumas who had four total stolen bases for the game. 
 
The Pumas travel to Arizona Western College on Saturday, March 23. First pitch is at 12pm.
