Puma Baseball (19-12) moves into the second half of the regular season sitting in first place among Region I DII schools with a 9-7 conference record.
Tuesday, March 7: Game 1 – PVCC 4, Pima 3
Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down by the end, the Pumas still held off Pima Community College for a 4-3 victory.
The Pumas fired up the offense in the first inning when Drew Bond singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Liam O'Brien was the winning pitcher for the Pumas. The righty allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out nine.
Dayton Francis led the Pumas with two hits in three at bats. The Pumas didn't commit a single error in the field and Cole Williams had the most chances in the field with ten.
Tuesday March 7: Game 2 – PVCC 0, Pima 4
The Pumas fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 4-0 loss to Pima Community College in game two of the double header.
A single by Rob Liddington in the first inning was a positive for the Pumas.
Sam Lachot started the game for the Pumas. The righty allowed eight hits and four runs over five innings, striking out one. Connor Dougal threw three innings out of the bullpen.
Drew Bond, Liddington, Sean Cooper, and Austin Corbett each collected one hit to lead the team. The Pumas was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error and Dayton Francis made the most plays with 14.
Friday, March 10: PVCC 3, SMCC 7
The Pumas fell to South Moutntain 7-3 in game one of the day.
Saturday, March 11: PVCC 4, SMCC 11
The Pumas had trouble keeping up with South Mountain in an 11-4 loss in game two.
The Pumas tried to get things started in the second inning, when Matt Graf tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Graf led the Pumas with two hits in four at bats.
Kadden Drew started the game for the Pumas. The southpaw went two innings, allowing two runs on three hits and walking zero. Mason Brunson, Drew Bond, James Webster, and Jayden Rowley each entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings, one and two-thirds innings, one inning, and one inning respectively.
