PUMAS SPLIT WITH CHANDLER-GILBERT

Friday, February 24: PVCC 10, CGCC 9 (10)

The Pumas took the lead late and defeated Chandler- Gilbert 10-9 in game one. The Pumas collected 15 hits and the Coyotes had 14 in the high-scoring affair.

The Pumas got things moving in the third inning, when Craig singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.  In the top of the eighth inning, the Pumas tied things up at nine when Rob Liddington drove in four with a grand slam.  The eighth inning was the big inning for the Pumas as they notched six runs. Matt Graf, Austin Corbett, and Liddington the big inning with RBIs.  The game was tied at nine with the Pumas batting in the top of the tenth when Carson Craig's sac fly scored one run for the Pumas.

Tomas Urbina was the winning pitcher for the Pumas. The pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking one. Luke Dickson, Connor Dougal, and Mike Keevins all put in work in relief , steering their team towards victory. Jackson Brenna started the game for the Pumas. The lefthander went five and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out four.

Saturday, February 25: PVCC 0, CGCC 13 (7)

The Pumas fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-0 loss to Chandler- Gilbert in game two. The Pumas struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Chandler-Gilbert, giving up 13 runs.

A single by Austin Corbett in the second inning was a positive for the Pumas.

Kadden Drew was on the mound for the Pumas. The southpaw went one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on five hits. Jayden Rowley, Cole Dickson, and Austin Aldous each contributed in relief for the Pumas.
