BASEBALL STARTS SEASON STRONG AGAINST NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENTS

The Pumas started the 2023 season with two straight double headers against Pima Community College on January 27 & 28. The Pumas dropped all four games of the series. Despite starting off 0-4 opening weekend, the Pumas head into conference play 8-4 thanks to an eight-game win streak.

The Pumas have put up wins against Ottawa (2-0), Arizona Christian JV (2-0), Colorado Northwestern (4-0) in the first two weeks of the 2023 season.

During the first two weeks of the season, the Pumas have been strong offensively.  Rob Liddington comes into conference play with five home runs, 14 RBI's, and a .349 AVG in just the first 12 games of the season. Sophomore Drew Bond closely follows Liddington with two home runs and 12 RBI's. Jake Alwine and Ty Nelson have also hit a homerun for the Pumas.
 

The pitching has also been impressive for the Pumas. Tomas Urbina leads the Pumas in innings pitched (10), has nine strikeouts, and a 1.80 ERA. Liam O'Brien, has 11 strikeouts on the season and Logan Birch has not allowed a run in the 6.1 innings he has pitched.

The Pumas (8-4), will face GateWay CC at Gene Autry Park on Friday, February 10 in their first conference game of the season.
