PUMA'S SPLIT WITH CHANDLER-GILBERT

Friday, February 25: CGCC 5, PVCC 6 (10)

The Pumas defeated Chandler-Gilbert 6-5 in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the tenth inning. After a triple by Ike George, Derek Wood initiated a balk by the Coyotes reliever to score George and secure the win for the Pumas.

The Pumas opened up scoring in the third inning, when Chaz Clemons singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.  After the Coyotes tied things up, the Pumas scored three runs in the sixth inning. The Pumas put the pressure on, led by a single by Anthoine Shell and a sacrifice fly by Trevor Baugh

James Webster got the win for the Pumas. The lefty lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero. Tomas Urbina threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.  David Enriquez started the game for the Pumas. The righty went seven and a third innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one

The Pumas collected 10 hits on the day. George and Shell each had two hits to lead the Pumas. Defensively, the Pumas didn't commit a single error in the field. Shell had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

 

Saturday, February 26: CGCC 8, PVCC 2

The Pumas fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-2 loss to Chandler-Gilbert.  The Pumas lost despite out-hitting Chandler-Gilbert nine to seven.

Kadden Drew was on the mound for the Pumas. Drew went one inning, allowing four runs on two hits. Zach Roger, Brock Arnold, Michael Modrick, and Brody Norris each entered the game as relief, throwing four innings, one inning, one inning, and one inning respectively.

Ike George went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Pumas in hits.
