PUMA SOCCER'S VANESSA LEYVA AND SUPERSTAR ABBY WAMBACH

On September 24 MCCCD hosted their annual Student Leadership Retreat.  This year's conference, held virtually, featured keynote speaker Abby Wambach.  As a bonus, Puma Women's Soccer student-athlete Vanessa Leyva was selected to introduce Abby Wambach and moderated the event.

Abby Wambach is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA World Cup Champion. She is second all-time in goals scored in International competition and her ability to lead her American teammates was a key to the USA's success for over a decade. She was the United States' leading scorer in the 2007 and 2011 Women's World Cup tournaments and the 2004 and 2012 Olympics. An activist for equality and inclusion, Abby is the author of the New York Times bestsellers; Forward: A Memoir and WOLFPACK.  She is co-founder of Wolfpack Endeavor, a company that is partnering with organizations to champion women in the workplace and the world.

Each year the offices of Student Life & Leadership from the Maricopa County Community College District, the Central Arizona College and the Coconino Community College host a three-day retreat designed to strengthen the leadership, life, and wellness skills of students.
