PUMAS SHOW DETERMINATION IN NARROW LOSS

Men's Soccer put up a strong fight against the #2 nationally ranked Phoenix College Bears on  August 28. Despite a 2-0 loss, the Pumas displayed significant progress and showed that they can compete with the best teams in the nation.

Head Coach Christian DeVries, now in his sixth season, was proud of his team's performance. "Our players demonstrated high character and effort on the field today," said Coach DeVries. "We knew this would be a tough match, but our focus remains on growth and building a strong team identity. We came into the game with a plan and stuck to it. With the game at 1-0 late into the second half, we knew we still had a chance."

The Pumas' defense, led by an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Preston Parsons, kept the game close, with Parsons making several crucial saves to keep his team in contention. His efforts were a key factor in keeping the scoreline competitive.

"The team took a major step forward tonight, and we know we can compete with the best in the country," added DeVries. "The last four results against Phoenix College were all losses, with scores of 1-6, 0-9, 1-4, and 0-3. Tonight's result shows that this team is moving in the right direction."

Looking ahead, the Pumas are preparing for another challenging matchup as they travel to Tucson to face #5 ranked Pima Community College on Saturday, August 31, at 6pm.
