Game 1: GWCC 1, PVCC 3

The Pumas Grab Lead in Fifth Inning for Victory Over Geckos

The Pumas defeated GateWay CC 3-1 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game.

After GateWay got on the board in the first inning with a solo homerun, the Pumas knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the second. The game was tied at one with the Pumas batting in the bottom of the fifth when Derek Wood singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Pumas put up one more in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.

The pitching was strong on both sides.  McIntosh took the win for the Pumas. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out ten.

The Pumas racked up nine hits on the day. Jager Straub, Wood, and Jacob Paige each racked up two hits to lead the Pumas.

 

Game 2: GWCC 8, PVCC 5

Pumas Drop Game to Geckos After Late Score

The second game of the double header against GateWay was a heartbreaker for the Pumas, as they lost the lead late in an 8-5 defeat. The game was tied at two with GWCC batting in the top of the seventh when the Geckos singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.

After the Geckos scored one run in the top of the ninth, the Pumas answered with one of their own when Isaac George grounded out, scoring one run. 

David Enriquez was on the hill for the Pumas. The righthander allowed three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out 12. Brady Welch and Danny Carpenter entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Jacob Paige led the Pumas in hitting with three hits in four at bats.
