Eric Ellefson joined the PVCC Track & Field coaching staff in 2024 as the pole vault coach.

Ellefson attended Harper College in Palatine, IL where he competed in both Pole Vault and the Decathlon. During his time at Harper College, Ellefson was a two-time NJCAA DIII All-American in the Pole Vault and the 4x400m Relay.

After his time competing, Ellefson transitioned to coaching. He began his coaching career at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, IL where he coached pole vault from 2017-2021. He then went back to his alma mater Harper College, where he coached two NJCAA DIII National Champions in the Pole Vault and 10 NJCAA DIII All-Americans from 2021-2023. He was also the assistant coach of two NJCAA DIII National Championship women’s teams.

Ellefson holds a USATF Level 1 Coach and NPVCA Certification and is an NFHS Certified Coach. Ellefson trained under Robert Cervenka and legendary pole vault Coach, Earl Bell.
