Women's Soccer showed grit and determination on the road Saturday evening in a hard-fought matchup against Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Despite the result, the Pumas displayed steady progress and battled until the final whistle.
Karely Quinonez opened the scoring for PV shortly after the first-half water break, finishing a setup from Zoe Girley to put the Pumas ahead. CGCC responded with three goals, but the Pumas kept pushing, and Mia Arreola cut the deficit in the 62nd minute to keep the game within reach. The Pumas created several chances in the closing minutes, including a strike that hit the post, but were unable to find the equalizer.
"We continue to grow as a team, and I'm proud of the progress," said Head Coach Ernie Santa Cruz. "Every match teaches us something new, and we're building on that foundation."
With their focus now shifting forward, the Pumas travel to face nationally ranked Phoenix College on Tuesday, September 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm. PVCC looks to carry its determination and teamwork into this showdown.
